I’ve always had a different way of looking at furniture, envisioning the beauty of imperfections and the appeal of moments in time worn. Just like the cozy familiarity of a well worn pair of faded jeans.

In our grandmothers' day, if a piece of furniture or a picture frame was distressed, it meant it had been around for generations and most of the paint had worn off in areas that had been rubbed by hands or nicked by being moved too many times. Today it can add character and is unique in that no two pieces are exactly the same and each tells a different story.

Furniture can be worn and weathered and be rejected just as we can become weathered with the storms of life and need to be restored. I want to lend a hand and turn a worn piece of furniture into something original and unique.

I have an appreciation for what is used, well loved, ragged and unkempt and a respect for natural evolution. My passion is to recreate a distressed finish as if it has been out in the elements for years, therefore, giving it the antique weathered look or refurbish old worn out pieces with color and artistic touches.

My inspiration comes from Isaiah 61. I get delight from taking ashes and transforming them into beauty. After raising a family and working in the professional field, I have embarked on the journey of my dreams by applying my creative talents.

Project Girl

February 28,2013
An update from August to present~~~~~

I've always been a "project girl".   I'm going to keep this weekly blog ...new project.....for real!!!!!!   I hope to write down my desires and experiences in meeting new people, painting furniture and help people create a home reflective of their personalities and inspirations to life.  I want to share my thoughts of why I really love the thrill of taking something tattered and making it into something that once more is adored and loved.

Like I said...I've always been a "project girl"..   I started going to auctions and garage sales long, long time ago.  I found things that I can create a one of a kind or a little touch of whimsy.  I take pieces and recycle them into something beautiful and useful again....like giving someone a second chance at life.  A loving touch gives furniture years in being a cherished keepsakes.  The modern term is "upcycling" or "refurbishing".  I love having the experience.....  Years ago my sweet friends began asking if I would give some of their furniture a face-lift.  My strength is doing it for a fraction of what it would cost for new furniture.  Plus it is a great reward to help people with their homes. My passion is to give my customers endless ideas for a new look for their homes.

My garage is now my painting booth and sometimes my living room is my storage room as well as the rest of my house. Not only working at home as Pam's Beauty for Ashes in August of 2012 my talents turned into a store front. "All Things New" in Canyon, Texas. When choosing a name for my store, my niece Rachelle, had a lot to do with it.  She knew I wanted to convey an idea of a new creation, a transformation of sorts, something God has done in my life. Taken me from the broken person I was, and made me new.  ("Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.  Corinthians 5:17)  The response has been unbelievable.  My store is roughly a 900 square foot former movie theater.  Built in the early 1900's.  It has a two rooms, plus a loft and a rustic look that fits right in with the store's unique antique, eclectic, shabby chic, romantic vibe.  My customers are fantastic and tell me they can't wait to see what I have next.  I offer an array of furniture and decor items to fit your budget. There is nothing like injecting anew life into worn furniture. I love every minute of it.  I have also expanded my store with vintage clothing. I can help you create the look you desire at any budget.

If you own a piece of furniture and no longer like the way it looks, or would  just like a change, I can do it so it is not so pricey. I will work with you on colors and your style to transform your piece. Thus that is where I come in......I'm here to step in. I can give online quote.  All you need to do is email a picture of the piece that you would like refurbished to pambeautyforashes@gmail.com and I will get back to you with a quote. I will keep my prices affordable because I understand more than ever that you are seeking the most for your money.  I will post shots of for sale finished items that will be in my store and will include before and after shots of finished items.
